Hi, I'm Laura,
I’m the artist behind Laura Chafer Art. I’ve always loved being creative and as a child I could spend hours drawing, cutting and sticking. One of the things I’ve always loved about creating art was the idea that someone I didn’t know might one day choose to display something I’d created in their home (not just my mum and dad proudly displaying my drawings on the fridge!) My love of art continued into my adult life, and I went on to study Fine Art at Liverpool John Moore’s University.
The idea for my handwritten artwork started during a project based around the word “self”. I decided to create a self portrait using my own name, exploring what a name means.
This piece received excellent feedback and was later selected for an art exhibition in London.
From there, I continued creating images from words, making pieces for friends and family before eventually receiving requests from other people who admired my art and wanted their own.
I began selling my art prints at art markets and craft fairs alongside my 9-5 job, but after having my baby in 2025 I realised I wanted to build a career that allowed me to be creative whilst also being present at home with my family.
So that’s where Laura Chafer Art comes in! I’m working towards turning something I’ve always loved into a career that fits around my family life, whilst still allowing me to do what I love – creating art.
